• MMA By The States • “Florida’s Most Notable”

The state of Florida is home to some of the biggest MMA gyms and fighters in the world. It is also the home to two promotions that are broadcasted on UFC fight pass. When you talk about states in the US that helped pioneer MMA, the list that you have to mention is Vegas, California, and Florida. Today Pure Evil MMA will take a deeper look into the roots of MMA in Florida.

• Promotions

The two biggest promotions in Florida are Titan FC and Island fights which are both shown on UFC fight pass and have been the moist soil that helped blossom some of the most recent household names (if your a die hard fan) like Greg Hardy, Chase Sherman and even 2019’s trending Meme sensation “Damn WIDE NECK who became famous for his infamous mugshot but little did anyone know he was more than just the Pensacola Bad Boy but an MMA Fighter as brought to our attention from Eric Kowal Of

They aren’t the only promotions in Florida though. Florida is also home to 305 fights based in Miami, Florida, Combat Night which was originated in Tallahassee, Florida and Xtreme Fighting Nation which is also based in South Florida. All of these promotions have shown to be great stepping stones to the UFC and Bellator over the years.

First, we start with Fusion Xcel Performance, a gym located in Ocoee, Florida. Fusion works with three of the hottest up and coming prospects in Florida, Julien Williams, Mike Davis, and Phillip Rowe. Mike Davis is also a product of Pete White Boxing and MMA. Next, we move on to Hard Knocks 365, a gym located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Hard Knocks is a product of a lot of fighters that formally trained with the Blackzillians. UFC fighters such as Stefan Struve, Michael Johnson and Kamaru Usman all train at Hard Knocks. They also have the liberty to train with world-class fighters such as Aung La Nsang, Linton Vassell, and Jason Jackson.

Finally, that brings us to American Top Team.

ATT has 20 locations spread all across Florida but the main gym is located in Coconut Creek, Florida. The highest class of fighters in Florida train at ATT. We are talking about guys like Jorge Masvidal, Douglas Lima, Yoel Romaro, Kyoji Horiguchi, and Dustin Poirier. Also featuring some of the best female fighters in the world such as Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Tecia Torres, and Gillian Robertson. Actually our very own EVil Eddie just had the honor to sit down with American Top Teams Head Strength And Conditioning Coach, Phil Daru as he prepared both Joanna and Dustin Poirier for his fight against Khabib a few months back. In the first few mins of their interview you can pick up the energy that is carried around at the gym as you feel an overwhelming sense of confidence from Coach Daru in the few mins he shares with us

There are many more gyms that train high-class fighters in Florida but the problem becomes, a lot of these fighters train at multiple gyms.
