Just moments ago the MMa scene was informed by Brett Okamoto of ESPN that former NFL Star Greg Hardy is replacing J.D.S to fight Alexander Volkov in Moscow November 9th.
This is a HUGE step up in competition for Hardy who has just made his debut inside the octagon in January of this year. Hardy has now had 4 fights this year but is nowhere near the level that Volkov is at as a Professional with 10 years of experience against top level competition like former UFC Champion Fabricio Werdum, Struve, Roy Nelson Ivanov and Timothy Johnson! Volkov has racked up almost 40 fights in his career with an astounding record of (30-7) that stretches back to 2009!
However in this sport we’ve seen accomplished fighters lose against raw talents with the best example being Joe Lauzon who made his UFC debut against former UFC Champion Jens Pulver and came out victorious with a 1st round TKO finish in just 41 seconds.
Without being to cliche it’s obvious to state that Hardy definitely has “A Punchers Chance” against Volkov as he has previously displayed in a few of his recent fights but at the end of the day win or lose this will be a great experience for Hardy to get a real taste of what it’s like to take on top caliber fighters inside the Heavyweight division.
