Just under 3 hours before UFC 223 kicked off on Fight Pass media And fans found out that the champion Robert Whittaker was pulled from the main event vs Kelvin Gastelum leaving fans and fighters in confusion static with wondering who the UFC would fill in. To our surprise they moved the fan favorite co main event up to the main event making it 5 rounds instead of 3.
So now UFC legend Anderson Silva will be taking on young up and comer Israel Adesanya with an extra 2 rounds equaling and added on 10 mins to their original 15 min bout.
This is actually nothing new to the Veteran in Anderson Silva who most recently stepped in at UFC 200 to fight the LHW Champion Daniel Cormier on just 24 hours notice.
However for Israel Adesanya he will now have to formulate a new game plan since he has an extra 10 mins to take out the legend if he wants to move forward in his career. Most may say at 43 this is to Israel’s advantage but you also must remember that Silva has grown accustom to fighting 25 mins throughout his career and against other top athletes the UFC has to offer in the last decade.
Tune in tonight live at 10pm ET on PPV to witness history repeat itself or in the making of Adesanya can make his way through the maze of Anderson Silva. Below is the new lineup for tonight’s entire card including the updated co main event between Lando Vannata vs Mariano.
