NSAC hearings for Jones, McGregor & Nurmagomedov verdict

Today the Nevada state athletic commission held hearings for Jon Jones, Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov. Jones was there to get a fighting licence for the state of Nevada, for his fight at UFC 235. He will be defending his light heavyweight title against Anthony Smith. The commission gave Jones a one fight licence. On the grounds that he is drug tested rigorously leading up to his fight, and he also cant be found with any higher levels of the metabolite. Jones was seen at the hearing addressing the press after hearing his verdict.

The commission also discussed the punishment for Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Khabib’s two training partners. For their roll in the post fight melee that followed UFC 229. Conor McGregor was fined 50 thousand dollars, and was suspended for 6 months. That six months started on the date of UFC 229, therefore he will be able to fight in April of this year.

Khabib was fined 500 thousand dollars, and will have to serve a 9 month suspension. They offered Khabib a deal that stated if he did an anti-bulling campaign, it would be reduced to six months. Khabib’s two training partners Zabaira Tukhugov, and Abubakar Nurmagomedov, were both given 25 thousand dollar fines and one year suspensions. Following the ruling Khabib has came out and stated that he will pay his training partners fines. Aside from that he also stated that he will sit out until his training partners suspension is over. He feels his friends were treated unjustly and will refuse to fight until their suspension is over. Khabib will also be paying a 200 thousand dollars for the lawyer he hired. That brings his total to 750 thousand dollars for his actions.

Moving into the future it seems that Conor will be fighting Porier or Cerrone next. Khabib will be getting pressured by the UFC to fight, and they may contemplate striping him of the title.
